Sydney or Melbourne? This is a childish rivalry between the two cities. I always think it’s like comparing apples to oranges. When I finally arrived in Melbourne, it becomes the apple of my eyes.

The story begins in July. It was a wet and windy weekend, but nothing could stop me to visit my best friend in Melbourne. Similar to most of the trips, I don’t have much planning – just turn up and do what I want. You can always tell the character of a place by the nicknames it has earned – the world’s most livable city. It’s not possible to see everything that Melbourne has to offer in one trip – and I don’t suggest you try. What follows, in no particular order, is a selective taste of the highlights in this article. If you know nothing else about this place, these are the funny facts that I discovered:

I went to Sydney during the long Easter holiday. When I search on Trip Advisor, there are 855 things to do in Sydney! Just imagine being surrounded by travel destinations, luxurious shops and tourists rushing everywhere. It is a place that will surely quicken your pulse. You want to discover what Sydney has to offer, but you don’t have enough time to do so. The good news is: you can do it in just 3 days without missing anything important. Here I show you how:
Visit Brisbane is fun. Friendly people. Beautiful environment. Also, it is less expensive than Sydney and Melbourne for price sensitive backpackers.
I have been Brisbane twice, and spent in total 1.5 years here… There is no better place to visit than Brisbane. Whenever I met some new friends, I encourage them to go to Brisbane. The travel bible, Lonely Planet, describes Brisbane as Australia’s coolest, hippest city and a star on the rise. Don’t miss out such an amazing place!
